PHONETICS

Share it Please
During the next month or so, we will be taking a look a British English Phonetics. Every day we will publish a post giving information on one specific phoneme. We will be starting with the vowels, so watch this space in order to perfect your spoken English. To get you started, here is a link to an interactive phonetic chart:

Here is the phonemic chart that we shall be using!

To determine wether a phoneme is "Voiced" or "Unvoiced", follow these simple steps to see the difference:

a. Put your hands over your ears & say the sounds. You'll hear the voiced sounds.
b. Put your hand on your throat. You'll feel a vibration with the voiced sounds.
c. Put a piece of paper in front of your mouth & you'll see it move with the unvoiced sounds.

We shall be also writing sentences using the phonetic alphabet, so keep an eye out to see if you can read what we have put!

ɪnˈdʒɔɪ !!!
