Etymology: < Italian semifreddo < semi- semi- prefix + freddo cold ( < classical Latin frīgidus: see frigid adj.).
A type of Italian dessert made in a similar way to ice cream, but which is not fully frozen and has a lighter, aerated texture; a serving of this. Also occas. more broadly: any of various other desserts made with cream and eggs and served chilled but not frozen.
